UAB Stops Savannah State

Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- James Naile struck out six batters while Tanner Bryant drove in three runs to lift Alabama Birmingham to a 7-1 win over Savannah State at Young Memorial Field.

In the top of the first, Joseph McCrary reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a single by Chris Arnold to give the Tigers (18-14) a 1-0 lead.

UAB didn't score in the bottom half of the inning but added single runs in the next four innings for a 4-1 lead.

Bryant hit a two-run triple as the Blazers scored three times in the seventh to expand their lead to 7-1.

Both squads left eight runners on base.

Peter Poole, Darien Campbell and Kevin Herlihy all had two hits for SSU. Rexford Davis took the loss. Davis pitched six innings and gave up eight hits and four runs while striking out four.

Chase Davis added four hits for UAB (15-16).
