Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-  Savannah State jumped out to a 3-0 lead but Alabama Birmingham responded with 12 unanswered runs in a 12-3 win over the Tigers at Young Memorial Field.

SSU scored three times in the top of the first and left the bases loaded.

Chris Arnold hit a two run single that scored Todd Hagen and Joseph McCrary and a single by Michael McHugh allowed Parker Nix to score.

The Blazers tied the game in the bottom of the inning and added single runs in the second and third innings for a 5-3 lead.

UAB (14-5) scored four times in the fifth and three times in the seventh for a 12-3 cushion.

The Blazers left nine runners of base while SSU (17-3) stranded seven runners.

Hagen had three hits for Savannah State while Arnold had two hits and drove in two runs.

Jackson May took the loss, giving up nine runs and three walks in 4.2 innings.

Ivan De Jesus and Tyler Mims each had four hits and two RBI for the Blazers. Sam Kelley earned the win, giving up three runs and three walks in five innings.
