Kevin Herlihy ended the day with four hits and five RBIs as Savannah State swept a double-header from North Carolina Central at the Durham Athletic Park, 7-1 and 4-2.
Herlihy had two hits and drove in three runs in the first game and had two hits and two RBIs in the nightcap.
In the first game,
Kyle McGowin struck out seven batters in eight innings.
Herlighy had a RBI single in the third inning to give SSU a 1-0 lead. In the fifth, Leo Moore and
Todd Hagen scored runs for a 3-0 lead.
Both teams scored runs in the seventh as Herlihy had a RBI double for the Tigers and Spencer Franceschett hit a solo home run for Central to make the score 4-1.
SSU added three runs in the eighth as Moore, Herlihy and
Joseph McCrary drove in runs.
Hagen scored twice while McCrary had three hits and Moore had two hist and scored three times.
Dylan Drayton had two hits for NCCU while Michael Romano struck out four in a losing effort.
The second game took extra innings as SSU scored twice in the top of the 11th when Herlihy and
Parker Nix drove in runs.
NCCU led 2-0 after the first inning but the Tigers knotted the score in the third when Hagen hit a RBI single and Herhily ripped a RBI double that scored
Darien Campbell and Hagen respectively.
In the 11th, Moore led off with a single and scored on a single by Herlihy. Hagen bunted his way on base and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Nix.
Hagen had three hits and scored twice for SSU (23-17, 11-5).
Eric Ricks got the win, striking out two in 2.1 innings.
Gavin Guarrera took the loss for the Eagles (23-20, 10-10) while Ronald Thompson and Zack Lee each had three hits.
