Lee Moore drove in two runs but it would not be enough as Savannah State loss to South Carolina Beaufort 6-3 at Tiger Field.
Terry McClinton hit a RBI triple for the visitors in the third to give the Sand Sharks a 1-0 lead but SSU was able to tie the score in the bottom of the fourth when Lee's ground-out allowed
Joseph McCrary, who led off the inning with a walk, to score.
USCB added another run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to go ahead 4-1.
Darien Campbell singled and later scored in the seventh for the Tigers (17-12) to cut their deficit in half.
Both squads scored in the eighth.
McClinton hit a RBI single for USCB (17-18) and McCrary scored a run for Savannah State which made the score 5-3.
The Sand Sharks scored the final run in the top of the ninth on a RBI triple by Kyle Thompson.
Todd Hagen and McCrary each had two hits for SSU and McCrary scored twice.
Richard Loftin suffered the loss. Loftin pitched two innings and gave up four walks, two hits and one run.
USC Beaufot had 13 hits, left 14 men on base and made two errors.
McClinton had three hits and three RBI. Matthew Graney was one of seven Shark pitchers and he earned the win. Graney pitched two innings and gave up one hit and one walk.
