Tigers Lose To Charleston Southern

Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State led 5-3 after two innings but Charleston Southern scored eight unanswered runs in a 11-5 non-conference win over the Tigers at Tiger Field.

CSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Tigers (21-17) answered in the bottom of the first with Todd Hagen and Joseph McCrary scoring runs to tie the game.

The Bucs added another run in the top of the second but SSU responded with three runs in their half of the inning as Mendez Elder hit a two-run triple. Elder scored on an error to give Savannah State a 5-3 advantage.

Charleston Southern scored once in the third and fifth and twice in the sixth for a 7-5 lead.

In the seventh and eighth CSU scored single runs and added two runs in the ninth for a 11-5 lead.

SSU had runners in scoring position in the seventh and eighth innings but could not score.

Hagen had two hits and scored twice for SSU. Skylar Strickland added two hits and Elder drove in two runs. Ethan Glass pitched 5.2 innings in relief and gave up 13 hits and six runs while striking out four.

CSU (15-22) made four errors, left 13 men on base and had 20 hits.
