Jackets Roll Past SSU

Box Score ATLANTA, Ga.- Daniel Palka hit two home runs and Mitch Earnest hit a grand slam as 16th ranked Georgia Tech defeated Savannah State 14-1 at Russ Chandler Stadium before a crowd of 1,455.

The Yellow Jackets scored seven times in the first inning thanks to a two-run homer by Zane Evans, Palka's solo home run and Earnet's grand slam.

SSU got one of those runs back in the top of the second as Joseph McCrary led off with a single and scored on a single by David Richards.

Palka hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second to expand Tech's lead to 9-1.

Tech scored once in the fifth, three times in the sixth and added another run in the eighth.

The Jackets (27-10) pounded out 14 hits and left 13 men on base.

Palka and Earnest each drove in four runs for Georgia Tech. Jonathan King earned the win as he pitched two innings and struck out four.

McCrary had three hits for the Tigers while Richards collected two hits. Drew Quinney took the loss for SSU (21-16). Quinney lasted one inning and gave up nine runs and five hits.
