Todd Hagen hit a double and a triple and scored three runs as Savannah State shut out Florida A&M 9-0 at Tiger Field.
SSU had 10 hits while the Rattlers made five errors.
On the mound,
Rexford Davis and
Jason Wynn combined to throw a four-hitter with Davis striking out five batters in eight innings of work.
In the first inning, a single by
Parker Nix along with a FAMU error allowed he and Hagen to score for a 2-0 lead.
Hagen tripled in the third inning and scored on a sacrifice bunt by
Kevin Herlihy to put the Tigers ahead 3-0.
Savannah State scored four times in the fourth off three hits.
Peter Poole doubled and
Darien Campbell walked and both scored runs. Hagen reached base on an error and scored on a single by Herlihy and Herlihy scored on a single by
Joseph McCrary.
Chris Arnold and Pooled singled in the fifth and scored on a two-run single by
Antonio Scott for the final runs of the game.
Nix and Poole each had two hits for the Tigers (21-15, 9-5). Herlihy and Scott each had two RBI and Poole scored twice.
Justin Abney went 2 for 3 for FAMU (3-35, 3-15). Bran Fleming struck out six in a losing effort.
