Tigers Upend No. 25 Campbell

Box Score BUIES CREEK, N.C.- Savannah State scored six runs in the second inning and went on to defeat 25th ranked Campbell 8-1 at Jim Perry Stadium.

Ethan Glass and Eric Ricks combined to limit the Camels to five hits. Glass pitched 7.1 innings and gave up one run while Ricks held Campbell hit-less in 1.2 innings and struck out four batters.

Kevin Herlihy reached on an error in the first inning and later scored on a fielding error to give the Tigers (19-14) a 1-0 lead.

Gian Mirabel and Antonio Scott both reached base on an errors in the second and later scored runs to put SSU ahead 3-0.

A single by Zach Bryant and walks to Darien Campbell and Kevin Herlihy loaded the bases for the Tigers. After Mendez Elder struck out swinging, Joseph McCrary was hit by a pitch which allowed Bryant to score. Parker Nix belted a two-run single that scored Campbell and Herlihy to make the score for a 6-0 advantage. Chris Arnold reached base on a throwing error which allowed McCrary to score for a 7-0 lead.

Campbell had three hits in the sixth but could only score one run.

Savannah State's final run of the game came in the seventh as Campbell hit a RBI single to score Arnold to earlier walked.

Nix had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers. Campbell added two hits while Herlihy scored twice.

Campbell, who made six errors, was led by Brent Graham who had two hits. Paul Eyster took the loss for the Camels (29-6). Eyster lasted 1.2 innings and gave up seven runs.
