Tigers Lose To Bethune-Cookman

Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- Bethune-Cookman avoided a weekend sweep of Savannah State by defeating the Tigers 14-2 at Robinson Park.

SSU combined for 20 hits in a double-header on the previous day but could only get eight hits and made three errors in the third game.

The Wildcats led 3-0 after the first inning. After a scoreless second, B-CU added two runs in the third and five more in the fourth for a 10-0 cushion.

Savannah State scattered five hits in the fifth inning and scored twice as Todd Hagen and Kevin Herlihy both hit RBI singles to prevent a shutout.

B-CU sent four runners across home plate in the sixth despite only getting one hit.

Hagen and Parker Nix both had two hits for the Tigers (17-11, 7-4) while Ethan Glass took the loss on the mound. Glass pitched four innings and gave up 10 runs while striking out three.

Chris Biocic drove in four runs for Cookman (14-16, 7-5). Ali Simpson earned the win as he struck out five batters while giving up eight hits and two runs in five innings.
