Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Chris Arnold drove in five runs and Savannah State collected 17 hits in a 16-6 victory over Norfolk State in Tiger Field.
SSU trailed 4-0 but combined to score 13 runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings to take a 13-4 lead.
The Spartans added a run in the top of the 7th but SSU scored three in the bottom of the inning. NSU scored the final run of the game in the top of the 9th.
Mendez Elder, who hit a inside the park home run, and
Parker Nix had three hits for SSU while Arnold,
Todd Hagen,
Joseph McCrary and
Zach Bryant all collected two hits. Hagen, Bryant and Gian Mirabel all drove in two runs while McCrary, Nix and Mirabel all scored three times. Elder scored twice.
Eric Ricks earned the win for the Tigers.
SSU left 11 runners on base while the Spartans stranded 14. Both squads made five errors.
Jeff Di Fulgo was tagged with the loss for Norfolk State. Di Fulgo pitched three innings and gave up right runs, seven hits and three walks.
Zach Markel had three hits and three RBI for Norfolk State.
