Savannah State Loses On The Road

Box Score KENNESAW, Ga.- Six Kennesaw State pitched combined to limit Savannah State to five hits as the Owls defeated SSU 11-2 in a non-conference game at Stillwell Stadium.

Kevin Herlihy struck out swinging in the top of the first but reached base on a wild pitch, A single by Parker Nix would bring Herlihy home for a 1-0 SSU lead.

KSU would tie the game in the bottom of the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth the Owls would tag SSU for six runs on just one hit. Savannah State would make three errors in the inning.

KSU added another unearned run in the fifth for a 8-1 lead.

Savannah State would get one run back in the top of the sixth as Mendez Elder would hit a RBI double that would score Nix.

Kennesaw State answered with three runs off four hits for a 11-2 lead which would be the final score.

KSU would strand nine base runners while the Tigers left five on base.

SSU made four errors while the Owls made three.

Nix led SSU (13-8) with two hits, one RBI and one run scored. Drew Quinney pitched 3.2 innings and gave up four hits, four runs and two walks.

Bo Way had two hits and scored twice for the Owls. Will Solomon earned the win, pitching 4.1 innings and striking out five. Solomon gave up two hits and one run.
