Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Antonio Scott drove in two runs in the fourth inning to help Savannah State to a 5-1 win over Norfolk State at Tiger Field.
NSU scored their lone run in the top of the first inning when Cameron Day's ground-out allowed Mikey Bruno to score.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers loaded the bases with consecutive hits from
Kevin Herlihy,
Mendez Elder and
Joseph McCrary.
Parker Nix flied out but Herlihy was able to score top tie the game. Gian Mirabel singled to re-load the bases and the next batter,
Chris Arnold, flied out for the second out of the inning. Scott reached on an error by the pitcher and Elder and McCrary were able to score to give SSU a 5-1 lead.
In the seventh, the Tigers scored twice and had a pair of hits.
Herlihy walked and scored on a single by McCrary and a single by Arnold allowed McCrary to score.
The teams combined to leave 18 runners on base with SSU stranding 10.
Elder. McCrary and Arnold had two hits each for the Tigers while Herlihy and McCrary scored two runs apiece.
Ross Hunter and
Tommy Freeman combined to limit NSU to four hits. Hunter pitched six innings and gave up three hits and five walks.
Ross Cardwell had two hits for the Spartans. Chris Horne pitched six innings for NSU and gave up four runs and three walks.
