SSU Drops Weekend Series With Eagles

Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- North Carolina Central scored five times in the 7th inning and went on to defeat Savannah State 7-4 at Tiger Field.

Parker Nix hit a two-run single in the bottom of the first that scored Kevin Herlihy and Joseph McCrary to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

SSU (13-7, 3-3) went ahead 3-0 in the 4th when Chris Arnold doubled and came home on a single by David Richards.

Central got on the board in the 5th when Luis Diaz hit a two-run single to slice SSU's lead to 3-2.

After a scoreless, 6th, the Eagles scored five runs off three hits in the 7th to go ahead 7-3. Spencer Franceschetti hit a three-run single to help the NCCU effort.

The final run of the contest came in the bottom of the 8th when Nix singled and later scored on an error by the short stop.

Nix led SSU with three hits, two RBI and one run scored. David Richards added two hits. Jackon May took the loss on the mound. May was unable to pitch a complete inning as he gave up two hits, three runs and one walk.

Terry McNabb earned the win for Central as he went eight innings and gave up four runs while striking out three. Dylan Drayton had three hits for the Eagles (11-9, 5-4).
