Tigers Rally Past A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C.- Savannah State scored two runs in the top of the eighth and held on to defeat North Carolina A&T 3-2 at War Memorial Stadium.

Trailing 2-1, Michael McHugh and Chris Arnold both reached base on an errors made by the short stop and pitcher respectively. Joshua Morales entered the game as a  pinch runner for McHugh. Todd Hagen flied out to center field but Morales was able to score to tie the game. After Matt Olgesby flied out Joseph McCrary singled to right which alklowed Arnold to score the game winning run.

The contest was a pitchers dual with SSU (18-29, 10-11) getting six hits while A&T was limited to just four hits.

Both teams scored in the opening inning as McCrary hit a RBI single for the Tigers while Luke Tendler's ground-out allowed Carvell Copleand to score the Aggie's first run.

A&T went ahead 2-1 in the fourth when Marquis Riley scored a unearned run.

The Aggies (15-33, 9-12) had their chances having left seven runners on base.

McCrary had two of the six SSU hits and drove in two runs. Rex Davis got the win on the mound while Oglesby earned the save. Davis pitched 1.1 inning and allowed no hits and struck out one while Oglesby pitched one inning and struck out two batters.

Brent Moore struck out eight in a losing cause for the Aggies.
