KENNESAW, Ga.- Kennesaw State broke open a close game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth in a 9-4 win over Savannah State at Stillwell Stadium.
The Owls (28-17) scored four times off three hits in the second inning to take the early lead.
Uriah Virgo was hit by a pitch in the third and
Darien Campbell hit a RBI double in the third that allowed Virgo to score to put the Tigers on the scoreboard.
Joseph McCrary led off the top of the fourth with a solo home run for Savannah State and SSU trailed 4-2.
SSU held Kennesaw State scoreless until the sixth when they exploded for five runs off just two hits to run their lead to 9-2.
The Tigers (15-26) collected three hits in the top of the ninth and scored twice as Jeff Radcliff and
Peter Poole both hit a RBI doubles.
For the game, Savannah State out-hit KSU 8-6.
McCrary had a home run and a double and scored twice to lead the SSU effort while Campbell, Radcliff and Poole also hit doubles for the Tigers. Matt Oglesby, one of nine SSU pitchers used, took the loss. Oglesby pitched 1.2 innings and gave up four hits and four runs while striking out two.
Ronnie Freeman had two hits and scored twice for the Owls. Travis Dean struck out five batters in his five innings of work to earn the win.
