SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State extended their losing streak to six games after a 8-5 loss to Mercer at Tiger Field.
The Tigers led 3-1 but MU scored six times in the fifth to break the game open.
SSU, who made three errors, trailed 1-0 in the fourth but scored three runs off three hits in the bottom of the inning.
Darien Campbell and Matt Oglesby led off with back to back singles and scored on a triple by
Joseph McCrary. Julis Green's sacrifice bunt allowed McCrary to score for a 3-1 lead.
Mercer scored six times off seven hits in the fifth and led two runners on base for a 7-3 lead.
The Bears scored another run in the seventh while SSU added a run in the eighth and ninth innings.
Oglesby hit a RBI single in the eighth for Savannah State (3-9) while
Michael McHugh hit a RBI single in the ninth.
McCrary drove in two runs for the Tigers while Campbell, Oglesby and Green all had two hits.
Tommy Freeman started for SSU and gave up one run in four innings but reliever Jackson May took the loss, giving up five runs in one-third of a inning.
