Hornets defeat Tigers

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Troy Drummond scored three times including the winning run to lift Delaware State to a 4-2 win over Savannah State at Tiger Field.
Drummond led off the game with a bunt single and later scored on an error by the SSU catcher to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead. Scott Davis, who reached on a single, scored in the first inning after  a single by Camero Cecil for a 2-0 lead.
Savannah State tied the game in the bottom of the third.
Antonio Scott singled to third and advanced to second after Darien Campbell was hit by a pitch. Peter Poole laid down a bunt to load the bases and Joseph McCrary's single drove home Scott. Chris Arnold flied out to center but it was deep enough to allow Campbell to score and tied the game.
SSU (2-2) scored twice off three hits but also left two runners on base.
The Tigers ended the game by stranding a dozen base runners while DSU left 10 on base.
Drummond led off the fifth with a single and later scored on Ryan Haas' sacrifice fly.
In the seventh, Drummond led off with a walk and scored on a single by Cecil to make the score 4-2.
Savannah State had their chances but left two runners on base in the seventh and left the bases loaded in the eighth.
McCrary and Kevin Herlihy each had two hits for the Tigers .  Rexford Davis took the loss. Davis pitched four innings and gave up four hits, four walks and three runs while striking out three.
Cameron had three hits and scored twice for DSU (1-0) while Jordan Elliot pitched seven innings and struck out two while giving up two hits.
