Jones Wins 400m At MEAC Championships

LANDOVER, Md.- Amara Jones won first place in the women's 400m with a time of 54.62 at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor track Championships held at the Prince George S&L Complex.
Jones was third in the 200m with a time of 24.58.
Kim Wilson finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 12.05 and the 4x400m relay team (Aleah Hordges, Jazy Seay-Blane, Chavonta Rogers and Jones) was third with a time of 3:48.46.
Jaymi White was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.51m while Amber Hughes was eighth with a jump of 5.31m.
Hughes was seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 11.56m, Seay-Blane was eighth in the 400m witha time of 57.16 and Dominique Givance was 15th in the 800m after finishing with a time of 2:21.10.
On the men's side Cameron Hall finished fourth in the 60m hurdles while Justin Talyor and Ruben Isreal-McBee placed in multiple events.
Hall had a time of 8.02
Taylor set a new school indoor record of 14.97m in the triple jump to finish fifth and  placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.70m.
Isreal-McBee posted a time of 8:56.43 to finish eighth in the 3000m and was ninth in the 5000m with a time of 15:31.03.
The 4x400m relay team (Chaz Price, Darrius Baker, Eric Plump and Etchien Assinzo) was 12th with a time of 3:25.25 and Assinzo was 19th in the 800m with a time of 1:59.11.
The SSU women finished 7th overall with 37 points. Hampton won the women's side with 161.50 points.
The SSU men finished in 12th place with 13 points. Norfolk State captured the men's side with 161.50 points.
