SSU Volleyball loses to Stetson

Deland, Fla.—Savannah State University volleyball team lost 0-3 to Stetson University on day two of the Stetson Clarion Classic Tournament.

The Lady Tigers dropped the first and second match 14-25 to the Lady Hatters, and then fell 13-25 in the final set to give Stetson the win in the Edmund Center in front of 198 patrons.

SSU recorded a total of 15 kills on 35 attempts and four blocks. Bridgette Stephens earned the game high 10 digs while Bianca Helton led SSU in kills with six.

Stetson challenged SSU defensively, recording a total of 16 blocks and 30 digs. Lady Hatter Kaylee Ream had the game high seven kills and Kelli Carneal had the high of 25 assists.

At the conclusion of the tournament, six ladies were voted to the Clarion Classic All-Tournament Team by head coaches from participating institutions. SSU's Ashlee Butler was named to the team along with BCU's Janeen Davis, and Krysta Gardener; Wofford's Reagan Styles and Arden Anderson; and Stetson's Kelli Carneal and Kaylee Melville.

SSU will play its next match on September 11 at Jacksonville University.
