ATLANTA, Ga.- Dexter Kelley hit a two-run double and
Joseph McCrary hit a solo home run but it would not be enough as 9th ranked Georgia Tech rolled to a 11-3 win over Savannah State at Russ Chandler Stadium.
Tech scored four times in the first inning but the Tigers cut their deficit in half in the top of the fifth when Kelly hit a two-run double.
The Yellow Jackets added five runs in the bottom of the inning as Daniel Palka hit a two run triple and Mott Hyde added a three run home run to extend their lead to 9-2.
McCrary hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth to pull SSU within 9-3 but Georgia Tech's Jacob Esch answered with a two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning for the final runs of the contest.
SSU (27-22) used five pitchers while the Jackets used four.
Kyle McGowin took the loss for the Tigers while Matt Grimes earned the win. McGowin struck out three in five innings but gave up nine runs, six hits and six walks. Grimes pitched six innings and struck out six while giving up five hits, two runs and two walks.
Kelley went 3 for 5 for SSU while driving in two runs.
Hyde went 3 for 3 for the Jackets (35-14) and drove in five runs.
