SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Cordarian Robertson scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Savannah State rallied from a 7-4 deficit to down Charleston Southern 8-7 at Tiger Field.
The Tigers scored four times in the seventh as
Julius Green hit a two-run double, Matt Oglesby singled in a run and Robertson scored on a error.
Jackson May and
Eric Ransom pitched the eighth and ninth inning in relief and shut down the Buccaneer bats.
Andrew Garren who pitched two innings and gave up one run earned the win while Ransom picked up the save.
CSU (9-8) scored runs in the first and second innings and sent four runners across the plate in the top of the fourth to jump out to a 6-0 lead.
The Bucs made two errors in the bottom of the inning which helped SSU score three runs to cut the Charleston Southern lead in half.
Joseph McCrary and Dexter Kelley hit back to back singles. Emory Barkley reached on a error which allowed McCrary to score and Russell Cooper reached on a fielder's choice that brought home Kelley. Todd Hagen singled and a error by the shortstop allowed Cooper to score a run to make the score 6-3.
Green bunted his way on base in the fifth and scored a unearned run on a flyout by Oglesby to make the score 6-4.
CSU added a run in the top of the sixth to extend their lead to 7-4.
Green had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice for the Tigers (9-8) while Oglesby drove in a pair of runs.
Nick Chinners and Derek Smith each had two RBIs for the Bucs. Levi Mauldin took the loss. Mauldin pitched 6.1 innings and gave up all eight runs.
