GREENSBORO, N.C.- Savannah State split a double-header with North Carolina A&T, winning the opener 6-5 but losing the second game 8-3 at War Memorial Stadium.
In the first game, the Tigers rallied from a 5-2 deficit and scored four runs in the ninth inning to defeat A&T.
SSU led 1-0 after two innings of play but the Aggies scored three times in the bottom of the third and added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
Savannah State scored once in the seventh before their ninth inning rally.
Dondregius Jackson hit a three-run home run for SSU in the ninth while Dexter Kelley and Duchal Bowles each hit doubles.
Chris Arnold added a pair of singles.
Kevin Herlihy pitched eight innings and struck out three to earn the win.
Dario Little had three hits and drove in three runs for the Aggies while Tyler Boone suffered the loss on the mound.
In the nightcap, Nick Oelker struck out seven batters while scattering five hits for the Aggies.
The Tigers led 3-0 entering the bottom of the third but gave up five runs. A&T added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth for the final runs of the day.
Matthew Oglesby hit a solo home run for Savannah State (5-7) while Kelley hit a double.
Michael Allegretti took the loss as he gave up six hits and five runs in 2.2 innings.
Andre McKoy had a home run and three RBI for the Aggies (6-6).
