Hagen Homers In Loss To Owls

KENNESAW, Ga.- Todd Hagen hit his first college home run but it would not be enough as Savannah State lost to Kennesaw State 7-3 at Stillwell Stadium.

The Owls lead the six-game series with SSU 6-0.

Andy Chriscaden did the early damage for KSU as he scored on a wild pitch in the second inning and hit a two-run homer run in the third for a 3-0 lead.

Aaron Dobbs hit a RBI single in the fourth and Ronnie Freeman drove in two runs with a double to extend their lead to 6-0.

SSU got on the board in the eighth inning.

Russel Cooper led off with a walk but Cordarin Robertson hit into a double play. Dexter Kelley was hit by a pitch but was able to score as Hagen sent a shot over the left field fence to slice the Tigers deficit to 6-2.

Kennesaw State scored another run in the bottom half of the inning to go ahead 7-2.

In the ninth, the Tigers scored their third run.

Emory Barkley singled and Antonio Scott was put in the game as a pinch runner. Scott stole second and advanced to third on a single by Julius Green. Scot came home on a ground-out by Peter Poole.

Green had three singles for SSU and Hagen drove in two runs. Andrew Garren was one of six SSU pitchers and took the loss after six hits and three runs in three innings while striking out two.

Zac Griffith struck out six batters for the Owls in six innings and gave up five hits and no runs. Jeff Brown got the save. At the plate, Chriscaden had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice.

Savannah State is now 13-13 while Kennesaw State improved to 16-11.
