MANHATTAN, Kan.- Jacob Pullen scored 24 points to lead 17th ranked Kansas State to a 92-61 win over Savannah State before 9,831 fans at Bramlage Coliseum.
The Tigers held a 8-4 advantage before Kansas State rallied to tie the score at 10 and take a 18-12 lead with 12:38 on the clock.
SSU tied the game at 18 after a trio of free throws from
Cedric Smith and a 3-pointer from
Jovonni Shuler but nine unanswered points by the Wildcats gave Kansas State a 27-18 advantage with 9:52 remaining.
A 3-pointer by Preston Blackmon sliced SSU's lead to six but Kansas State responded with a 7-2 mini-run to take a 34-23 advantage with 5:53 left.
A jumper by
Keierre Richards followed by a 3-pointer by Shuler and a free throw by
Keith Edwards pulled the Tigers within five but eight straight points by KSU gave the Wildcats a 42-29 lead with 2:41 left before halftime.
KSU led 46-35 at the half.
The Wildcats led by 14 early in the second period but Blackmon made a layup and hit two free throws to pull SSU within 51-41 with 16:48 remaining.
SSU would not get any closer as Kansas State reeled off a 23-9 run to take a 74-50 advantage with 10:43 left.
A 11-3 run gave KSU their biggest lead of the night at 85-53 with 6:05 left.
A tip-in by
Jyles Smith with just over three minutes left cut Savannah State's deficit to 27 points but SSU would not score again as the Wildcats scored the final four points of the contest from the free throw line.
Blackmon had 19 points for the Tigers (2-15) while Shuler added 15 points and seven rebounds.
KSU out-rebounded the Tigers 48 to 29 and the Wildcats bench players out-scored the SSU reserves 23 to 8.
Kansas State (12-3) shot 47 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range while the Tigers shot 38.5 percent from the floor.
