SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Jonathan Ross hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs but it would not be enough as Savannah State fell to North Carolina A&T 8-6 at Tiger Field.
Ross, who finished the game with three hits and three runs scored, hit a solo home runs in the first and eighth innings.
SSU went ahead 1-0 in the first inning but the Tigers made three errors in the field in the third inning and A&T scored three times to go ahead 3-1.
The Aggies added three more runs in the top of the fourth for a 6-1 advantage.
Ross led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk and scored on a ground-out by
Kevin Herlihy.
Savannah State had the bases loaded in the fifth but were only able to score once as Ross hit a RBI single to score
Cordarian Robertson, who singled, to make the score 6-3.
A&T added runs in the sixth and seventh innings to bring their lead to 8-3.
SSU (24-24) scored three times in the eighth but it would not be enough.
Ross' homer cut the SSU deficit to 8-4.
Dexter Kelley reached on an error,
Joseph McCrary singled and Herlihy singled to load the bases. After outs by Don Jackson and John Arnold, Matt Nowacki smacked a two run double for the final runs of the contest.
Michael Allegretti took the loss. Allegretti pitched a complete game and struck out six.
The Aggies (26-24) were led by Marquis Riely who had three hits. Esterlin Paulino earned the win while Garrett Braun earned the save.
