Hornets Rally Past Savannah State

DOVER, Del.- Delaware State rallied from a 4-1 deficit and went on to defeat Savannah State 8-4 at Soldier Filed.

DSU led 1-0 after one inning of play but the Tigers tied the score in the second when Dexter Kelley led off with a walk and later scored on a wild pitch.

In the third, Jonathan Ross hit a RBI double and Kelley singled home a run to give SSU a 3-1 lead.

Kevin Herlihy led off the fifth with a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Blake Lee to extend SSU's lead to 4-1.

Delaware State scored five runs off five hits and left two runners on base in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-4 lead. The Hornets added two more runs in the sixth for the final runs of the game.

Matt Nowacki had two hits for SSU. J. May took the loss. May pitched 1.1 innings and gave up six hits and five runs.

Abe Eubanks led DSU with three hits. Elliot Gardner struck out six batters in seven innings and earned the win.

SSU falls to 9-13 while the Hornets improve to 4-16.
