Tigers Finish Season With Win

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Tracy Rankins matched a career-high 25 points to lead Savannah State to a season ending 94-68 win over Carver Bible College in Tiger Arena.

Rankins went 10-for-13 from the floor and hit five 3-pointers while grabbing six assists and dishing out four assists.

Carver was led by J. Barbee who had a triple double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

With the score tied at nine, SSU scored six unanswered points for a 15-9 advantage with 13:29 on the clock.

The Cougars cut Savannah State's lead to 16-15 but SSU put together a 27-10 run to increase their lead to 43-25 with 4:51 remaining.

Carver held the Tigers to two field goals the rest of the half,

Savannah State led 51-38 at intermission.

Carver shot 50 percent from the floor in the opening period while SSU shot 46.3 percent.

The Cougars drew within 54-47 with 17:02 left in the second half before SSU scored six straight points to increase their lead to 13.

Carver responded with a 13-5 run to close with 65-60 with 10 minutes left.

SSU closed the game with a 29-8 run to improve to 11-16.

The Tigers out-rebounded carver 55 to 39.

Marcus Chawa came off the bench to contribute 17 points while Arnold Louis had 16 points and 14 rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Preston Blackmon had 14 points and 10 assists and Rashad Hassan added 14 points and 14 rebounds.

It was the final game in a SSU uniform for seniors Patrick Hardy, Devin Stowers, Glen Izevbigie and Rankins.
