Sharks Upend Savannah State

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Dexter Kelley and Jordan Monico each hit home runs but it was not enough as USC Beaufort defeated Savannah State 12-7 at Tiger Field.

Kelley hit a three run homer in the sixth and Monico added a two run shot in the seventh for the Tigers.

The Sharks were led by Zach Rosetti who had four RBIs. Rosetti hit a three run home run in the top of the first inning as USCB jumped out to a 4-0 lead.

USCB led 7-0 after three and a half innings.

SSU left the bases loaded in the bottom of the third but were only able to muster one run as Matthew Oglesby's single drove home Brett Pointer who earlier walked.

The Sharks added one run in the fifth and three in the top of the sixth for a 11-1 advantage.

After Kelley's home run, David Washington later singled and stole home to cut SSU's deficit to 11-5 entering the seventh.

USCB scored in the top of the seventh and Monico's two run blast made the score 12-7.

Kelley had three RBI for SSU (23-20) while Jonathan Ross, Tristan Smith, Monico and Washington had two hits apiece. Julius Green scored twice for the Tigers.

Brock Wooten pitched three innings for USCB and only gave up one hit and one run to earn the win.

Robert Ramsdale took the loss for the Tigers as he gave up seven hits, seven runs and four walks in 2.1 innings on the mound
