GREENSBORO, N.C.- N. Rogers and M. Riley drove in five runs each as North Carolina A&T defeated Savannah State 12-5 at War Memorial Stadium.
Rogers hit a three-run home run in the third inning while Riley hot a two-run home run in the second and a three-run blast in the seventh.
SSU left the bases loaded in the second inning but were only able to score one run as Julius Green bunted home
Dexter Kelley, who led off with a double.
The Aggies (11-26) scored twice in the bottom of the inning but Savannah State tied the game at two in the top of the third. Jonathan Ross led off with a double and came home on Kelley's fielder's choice.
In the bottom of the third, the Aggies went ahead 5-3 after Rogers' homer.
The Tigers added two more runs in the sixth to pull within 5-4.
Matthew Oglesby hit a two-run double that allowed
Brandon Webster and Green to score.
A&T scored six runs in the seventh to widen their advantage to 11-4.
Oglesby hit a RBI single in the top of the eighth but A&T added a run of their own to make the score 12-5.
SSU (23-19) stranded 10 base runners in the loss.
Oglesby went 4-for-5 and had three RBI while Ross and Green had two hits apiece.
Robert Ramsdale pitched seven innings but gave up 11 runs and 11 hits for SSU.
