SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State ran their winning streak to six straight games with a 4-3 victory over NAIA opponent Edward Waters at Tiger Field.
The game was called after eight innings because of the weather.
The win gives SSU a 21-16 record.
In a game where no team had a extra base hit, the teams combined to make six errors and left 14 runners on base.
Edward Waters (21-19) scored twice in the fourth inning as Savannah State made two errors.
SSU scored four runs off two hits in the fifth to go ahead 4-2.
Dychal Bowles reached on an error, Julius Green singled and
David Washington was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Darien Campbell singled to right to drive in two runners and
Tristan Smith reached on an error which allowed Washington to score. After Jonathan Ross struck out,
Andrew Mendez hit a sacrifice fly to right field which allowed Campbell to score the Tigers fourth run.
EWC scored an unearned run in the seventh to close out the scoring.
Campbell had two hits and two RBI to lead Savannah State.
Matt Oglesby hurled seven innings and gave up six hits and only one earned run to get the win.
Eric Smith took the loss for Edward Waters. Smith pitched eight innings and struck out five while giving up only two earned runs.
Brandon Barrington and Neil Martino each had two hits for EWC.
