Home Runs Push SSU Over Concordia-Selma

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Matt Nowacki, Jonathan Ross, Jordan Monico and Brandon Webster each hit home runs as Savannah State completed a three-game sweep of NAIA foe Concordia-Selma at Tiger Field, 18-0.

Nowacki hit a three-run homer in the third, in the fifth,Ross led off with solo shot and Monico hit a two-run homer, and Webster hit a two-run home run in the sixth.

The Tigers scored six times in the first inning and added two more runs in the second and four more in the third for a 12-0 lead.

Darien Campbell, Matt Oglesby and Ross all walked to load the bases and Andrew Mendez's single drove home the first run of the contest, scoring Campbell. Dexter Kelley hit a two-run single to score Oglesby and Ross. Nowacki walked to re-load the bases and Mendez scored on a pass ball. Tristan Smith walked to load the bases again and a walk to David Washington allowed Kelley to score. Campbell came to the plate again and his fielder's choice allowed Nowacki to cross home plate for a 6-0 lead.

In the second inning, Kelley and Mendez scored runs and in the third Oglesby scored on a pass ball before Nowacki's home run to run their lead to a dozen. 

After a scoreless fourth, the Tigers added a trio of runs in the fifth, courtesy of home runs by Ross and Monico for a 15-0 advantage.

Dychal Bowles led off the sixth with a single and came home when Kendrick Jones hit a sacrifice fly to center. Webster's home run scored Mendez who doubled just before Jones' sacrifice fly.

Robert Ramsdale pitched a complete game for SSU as he gave up four hits and struck out six.

SSU earned their 20th victory of the season with the win and improves to 20-16.
