Tigers Pound Concordia-Selma

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State had their offensive juices flowing as they combined for 31 hits and 26 runs in a double-header sweep of Concordia-Selma at Tiger Field.

Michael Allegretti threw a two-hitter in the opener as the Tigers won 13-0 and Darien Campbell had three hits and three RBI in a 13-4 win in game two.

Campbell, Matt Nowacki and Dexter Kelley scored runs for SSU in the first inning of the opener for a quick 3-0 lead. Kelley scored again in the third to increase their advantage to 4-0.

The Tigers added seven runs in the fourth to go ahead 11-0 as Kelley bunted home a run, Nowacki drove in two with a single, Kelley scored on a error by the pitcher and Brett Pointer hit a two-run home run.

Nowacki hit a RBI double in the fifth and Andrew Mendez singled home a run in the sixth to complete the scoring.

Allegretti struck out seven batters on the mound while at the plate, Pointer had four RBI, Kelley scored three times and Nowacki drove in three runs. Campbell added three hits.

In the nightcap, Concordia jumped out to a 2-0 in the first inning but saw the lead go away in the second as Savannah State sent seven runners across the plate.

Tristan Smith led off with a triple and came home on Julius Green's single. Green later stole home. Campbell hit a single to score Washington, who earlier singled and Jonathan Ross hit a double to drive home Campbell. Mendez hit a RBI single and Kelley reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on a wild pitch. Nowacki, Smith, Green and Washington all drew consecutive walks as Washington walked in a run and Nowacki scored on a wild pitch.

Campbell stole home in the third and hit a two-run singled in the fourth. Matt Oglesby singled in a run in the fourth to extend SSU's lead to 11-2.

Dychal Bowles hit a two-run double in the fifth for a 13-2 lead.

Concordia added two runs in the seventh for the final runs of the afternoon.

Smith and Green scored twice for SSU (19-16). Joseph Jackson pitched five innings to earn the win giving up five hits and two runs.

Robert Sims had three RBI for Concordia.
