NCCU Sweeps Tigers

DURHAM, N.C.- North Carolina Central took a pair of games from Savannah State at DBAP 9-6 and 3-2.

In the opener, the Tigers trailed 6-3 but scored three runs in the top of the sixth to tie the score. Central's Justin Goodson, Edward Pegues and Oliver Jenkins all hit RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth to win the game.

Michael Allegretti pitched five innings for SSU and took the loss. Allegretti gave up seven hits, eight runs and struck out five.

David Washington went 3-for-3 for the Tigers (4-7) with three RBI including a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Washington and Mike Oglesby had doubles while Jonathan Ross hit a pair of singles and drove in two runs.

Game two was a pitcher's duel between SSU's Robert Ramsdale and the Eagles Brandon Oatis. Ramsdale pitched six innings and only gave up five hits while Oatis pitched seven innings and only gave up four hits. Ramsdale walked seven and struck out four batters and Oatis struck out seven and walked three.

Washington tripled and came home on a single by Ross for a 1-0 SSU lead in the first inning. Central (2-4) tied the score in the bottom of the inning and went ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the second.

Matt Nowacki led off the fifth with a walk and came home after a bunt by Darien Campbell for the final run of the game for the Tigers.
