BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- N. Crawford had three hits while L. Stewart and K. Cope drove in two runs apiece as Alabama Birmingham completed a three game sweep of Savannah State with a 8-3 win at Young Memorial Field.
With the game tied at three, the Blazers scored four times in the bottom of the fifth and added another run in the eighth.
UAB led 1-0 after the first inning but the Tigers went ahead 2-1 after
Dychal Bowles hit a RBI single in the second to score
Andrew Mendez and Matt Oglesby bunted home
David Washington in the third.
The Blazers (14-10) tied the game in the bottom of the third but Savannah State's Matt Nowacki scored a run to put SSU ahead 3-2 in the top of the fourth.
Once again UAB tied the game in their half of the fourth and scored four runs off three hits in the fifth.
Bowles had two hits for SSU (14-14) and Washington had a double.
Michael Allegretti gave up seven hits, seven runs and five walks in 4.2 innings for SSU and took the loss.
