SAVANNAH, Ga.-
Dexter Kelley and Matt Oglesby both hit home runs as Savannah State swept a double header from North Carolina Central at Tiger Field.
Kelley hit a two run homer in SSU's 5-3 win in game one and Oglesby hit a solo shot in the Tigers 6-4 victory in game two.
NCCU had three hits in the first inning of the game but could only score one run. Savannah State's
Andrew Mendez singled to short and was able to bring home
Darien Campbell, who led off with a single.
David Washington hit a double in the fourth that scored Julius Green and Oglesby to put SSU ahead 3-1. After the Eagles pulled within one in the top of the fifth, Savannah State increased their lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the inning when Kelley blasted a two-run homer.
NCCU added another run in the top of the seventh.
Robert Ramsdale went the distance for the Tigers and struck out five batters. Jonathan Ross and Washington each had two hits for SSU.
Jeff Citero took the loss for the Eagles while Oliver Jenkins went 4-for-4 at the plate.
The Eagles led 3-0 in game two before Savannah State scored five times in the bottom of the second inning off six hits.
Kelley singled and stole second and Oglesby singled which advanced Kelley to third.
Brandon Webster doubled which scored Kelley and Oglesby. Webster came home on
Dychal Bowles' double. Washington bunted his way on base and the next batter, Campbell singled to score Bowles. Matt Nowacki grounded out but not before Washington was able to cross the plate for the fifth run of the inning.
The Eagles scored a run in the top of the sixth and Oglesby hit a home run in the bottom of the inning for the final run of the contest.
Oglesby, Webster and Washington each had two hits for the Tigers (11-11). Webster drove home two runs and Oglesby scored twice.
Michael Allegretti pitched a five hitter and struck out four batters.
Ross Plummer and Robert Grant each had two hits for NCCU (3-10).
