Webster Powers SSU Over Morehouse

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Brandon Webster had four hits and drove in six runs to help Savannah State to a double header sweep over Morehouse at Tiger Field.

Webster had two hits and three RBI in SSU's 18-2 victory in game one. In the nightcap, the Darien, Georgia native collected two hits, scored twice and drove in three runs in a 8-3 win.

In game one, SSU scored seven runs off six hits in the first inning as Andrew Mendez walked in a run, Matt Nowacki scored on a wild pitch, Dexter Kelley had a RBI single, Jordan Monico had a RBI double and Dychal Bowles hit a two-run home run.

Morehouse scored twice in the top of the second but in the bottom of the inning, Matthew Oglesby brought home a pair of runs with a double to left center field.

Jonathan Ross' single drove in a run in the third and Mendez's single brought home two more to increase SSU's lead to 12-2.

Savannah State upped their advantage to 14-2 in the fourth and added four more runs in the fifth as Monico had a RBI single, Tristan Smith walked in a run and Webster had a two-run single.

Ross, Mendez, Bowles, Monico and Donregius Jackson all scored two runs. Monico had three hits and Mendez had three RBI.

Joseph Jackson gave up three hits in six innings to get the victory while Bryce Stokes pitched one inning in relief.

In game two, Morehouse quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run by Young but SSU (9-11) sent five runners across the plate in the third inning to go ahead. Webster's single drove in two runs, Mendez singled in a run and Monico brought home a run.

In the fifth, Mendez singled home another run and in the sixth Julius Green scored on a wild pitch and Webster bunted home a run.

Oglesby went the distance on the mound, pitching a three-hitter while striking out seven.

Mendez had two hits and David Washington scored twice.
