Andrew Mendez hit two doubles and drove in three runs to help Savannah State defeat
North Carolina Central 10-3 at Tiger Field.
The win improved SSU to 2-0 while the Eagles remain win-less at 0-3.
Savannah State, who had 11 hits, scored all their runs in the first two innings. The
Tigers sent seven runners across the plate in the bottom of the first and scored
three times in the second inning.
The Tigers batted around in the first inning with the first 11 batters reaching base
thanks to a pair of errors by NCCU.
In the second,
Jordan Monico blasted a two run home run which help to give SSU a
10-0 lead.
The Eagles scored twice in the third and Murray Blake hit a solo home run in the ninth.
Robert Ramsdale picked up the win, scattering two hits in six innings.
Blake and Akeem Hood each had two hits for NCCU. Douglas Dalley took the loss.
Dalley lasted just one-third of a inning and gave up seven runs, five hits and two
walks.
