  • Title
    Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Christian Wilson is entering his third year as an Assistant Coach for Savannah State University Men’s Basketball as a senior. A native of Lake City, Florida, Wilson comes from a strong basketball background through his parents’ years of playing and coaching.

He grew up playing basketball from a young age and developed into a standout player at Fort White High School and with his AAU program, Team Talent. Wilson went on to play collegiately at Florida Gateway College under Head Coach Charles Ruise and Assistant Coach C.C. Wilson.

During his freshman season (2020–2021), he was known for his defensive intensity—specializing in full-court pressure against top scorers at the NJCAA Division II level—while also contributing as a reliable shooter. In his sophomore year (2021–2022), Wilson served as team captain, helping lead Florida Gateway to a Conference Championship, a Region 8 Championship, and the program’s first NJCAA Division II National Tournament appearance since the 1970s. That same season, he became the inaugural recipient of the HCA Servant Award, recognizing character, leadership, and service.

After completing his playing career, Wilson transferred to Savannah State in 2023–2024, initially serving as a Student Manager under Head Coach Horace Broadnax. His strong work ethic and basketball knowledge quickly earned him a promotion to Student Coach.

Coaching runs in Wilson’s family, and he has gained valuable experience working with youth at the Boys & Girls Club, Serving as a Head Counselor for the Salvation Army's Camp Keystone, assisting at team camps, and learning from coaches at clinics across the country. In 2024–2025, he played a key role on Head Coach Clevan Thompson’s staff, contributing to player development, film breakdown, recruiting, and overall game preparation. His efforts helped the Tigers capture the SIAC Championship and secure a berth in the NCAA National Tournament.

Wilson aspires to become a collegiate head coach and continues to build on his experiences as both a player and a coach to prepare for a future in basketball leadership.
