Maurice Oliver enters his first season as the wide receivers coach at Savannah State University, bringing more than two decades of coaching experience to the Tigers' football program.
A 1999 graduate of Westside High School, Oliver was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball and baseball. During his prep career, he was a member of a region championship football team as well as back-to-back region championship basketball teams.
Oliver continued his football career at the collegiate level, competing at North Greenville College and Allen University. He earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from North Greenville in 2003 before graduating cum laude from Allen University with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Social Science in 2005. Oliver later earned a Master of Education in School and Guidance Counseling, K-12, from South Carolina State University in 2010.
Oliver arrives at Savannah State after completing 20 seasons as a high school football coach. Throughout his career, he has served in numerous leadership and position-coaching roles, including head coach at the independent junior college level, varsity assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, special teams coordinator, wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, defensive backs coach and linebackers coach.
During his coaching career, Oliver has helped develop student-athletes across multiple position groups, with numerous players advancing to compete at the collegiate level. He has also coached several players who were selected to participate in the South Carolina North-South All-Star Football Game. Additionally, Oliver has coached in several National Underclassmen All-Star Bowl games.
Oliver is the father of three children: Hampton (12), Ellis (5), and Michai (2).
