Dwayne Curry enters his first season as linebackers coach at Savannah State University.
Curry spent last season as defensive line coach and physical education instructor at Hinds Community College. Before working at Hinds, Curry was the defensive line coach and summer camps coordinator at Birmingham Southern College (2008-09). He was the defensive line and special teams coach at East Mississippi Community College from 2007-08 prior to going to BSC.
Curry started his coaching career as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Southside High School in Atlanta, Ga., where spent from 1999-2001. Curry moved on to be the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Pensacola High School in Pensacola, Fla., from 2004-06 before stepping into the college ranks as linebackers coach at East Texas Baptist in Marshall, Texas (2006-07).
As a player at Mississippi State from 1993-96, Curry, was a three-time Butkus Award Candidate. He was also a two-time Consensus All-American and an Honorable Mention All-American at linebacker one season.
Curry is a 1997 graduate of Mississippi State, earning a B.S. degree in physical education and fitness management.
He is single and resides in Savannah, Ga.
