David Roberson

David Roberson enters his second year at SSU and his first season as the inside linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator. Last season, he served as the linebacker coach as-well-as academic coordinator for the football program.
 
He comes to SSU from Pennsylvania State University where he served under legendary head coach Joe Paterno as the offensive quality control coach from 2011 to 2012. He also served under Bill O’Brien during his tenure at Penn State.
 
Prior to Penn State, Roberson was a part of a very successful Southern Mississippi football program, which was led by head coach Larry Fedora from 2010 to 2011. During his time at Southern Mississippi, Roberson worked as a defensive assistant under defensive line coach Deke Adams.
 
He also worked as special teams, recruiting coordinator, and linebackers coach for Notre Dame College (NDC) of Ohio, 2009-2010. He assisted head coach Adam Howard in successfully starting a Division II program. Roberson was directly responsible for overseeing the 2010 signing day class of 55 players.
 
While working as the co-special team’s coordinator at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts in the 2008-09 season, Roberson’s special teams units finished the year as the top unit in the Northeast Ten Conference.
 
His nine years of coaching experience also includes stints at Norwich University, Elder High School, and Hughes High School.
 
As a student-athlete, Roberson played linebacker for Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio. Roberson graduated from Wilmington College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management.
