Darrell Hackney

Darrell Hackney enters his first years the Tigers quarterbacks coach.
 
The Atlanta, Georgia native comes to Savannah State from The University of Alabama Birmingham, where he led the Blazers at the quarterback position from 2001 to 2005.
 
During his time at UAB, Hackney threw for the highest passing yardage total in Conference USA in the 2004 campaign (3,070 yards). He was ranked No. 14 nationally and No. 3 among Conference USA quarterbacks in passing efficiency (146.6).
 
In the Blazers 2004 Hawaii Bowl game, he passed for 417 yards and a pair of touchdowns, connecting on 31 completions (54 attempts).  He set the UAB single-season record for touchdown passes with 26 in the same season.
 
He attended Douglass High School in metro Atlanta, helping the team become one of the top offenses in Georgia. He passed for over 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in three seasons and was named honorable mention all-state by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a junior and senior.
 
He earned a bachelor's degree in Communications from UAB and has a two year old daughter, Dionna Hackney.
