Scott Nestor was hired the summer of 2020 at Savannah State as a volunteer assistant baseball coach.
Nestor began his coaching career in 2010 while attending school at Central Michigan University where he later received his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.
In 2012, Nestor was hired as the head coach for the junior varsity team at Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan. His role was to develop young athletes to compete for the High School’s varsity program. Seaholm’s team had a 31-11 record through two seasons under Nestor.
He was hired as an assistant baseball coach at Rochester College in 2013. While serving as assistant coach, Nestor was working to turn the pitchers program around so that the program would be successful during the season and the offseason as well. Nestor also developed seven USCAA academic All-Americans and the 2015 USCAA Student Athlete of the year. He appeared in back to back USCAA World Series.
After taking a year off from baseball, Nestor was hired as director of operations for the Oakland Bulldogs in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Nestor scheduled games and tournaments for every team inside the program.
Coach Nestor was also in charge of the website content and assisted with recruitment and handled all team budgets and travel arrangements for the coaching staff. Simultaneously, Nestor was also the coordinator of development at the Varsity Shop Training Center.
Throughout his career, Nestor has developed a multitude of Major League Baseball players, including Nathan Witt (L.A. Dodgers, 17th round draft pick., Pitcher), Blaise Salter (Detroit Tigers, 31st round draft pick, Catcher/1b), and Nick Deeg (San Francisco Giants, 30th round draft pick, Pitcher).
