JACKSON, Tenn.- Kidane Stephens and Tyler Tucker drove in two runs apiece while six Savannah State pitchers held Lane to four runs off eight hits as the Tigers ended their regular season on Saturday with a 11-4 victory over Lane in a game played at Jackson Stadium.

Savannah State ended the day with 15 hits as Yan Cartaya and Bryce Bause hit doubles and Gavin Jusino added a triple.

The Tigers started their scoring in the top of the first inning.

Julian Grier drew a walk, stole second and advanced to third on a single by Johan Sandoval. After Stephens drew a walk, Grier scored when Tucker reached base because of an error by the third baseman. A single to right field by Jusino allowed Stephens to score.

The Dragons tied the game in the bottom of the first but SSU answered with three runs in the second to go ahead 5-2.

Kijani Clarington singled, Jason Ramos drew a walk and Grier laid down a bunt to load the bases for Seth Stargell who reached base on a fielder's choice but Clarington was thrown out at home. A walk to Sandoval allowed Ramos to score and Grier and Stargell came home when Stephens reached base because of an error by the second baseman.

Savannah State extended their lead to 9-2 with a run in the third and three more in the top of the fourth.

In the third, Jusino hit a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Chandler Hicks while in the top of the fourth, Tucker and Clarington hit RBI singles and a sacrifice fly by Ramos allowed Jusino to score.

Lane whittled their deficit to 9-4 with a run in the bottom of the fourth and another one in the fifth.

SSU responded with Bause hitting a double and scoring when Jan'i Belcher reached on an error in the sixth while in the seventh, David Sanders hit a single through the left side of the infield and came home on a double by Cartaya for a 11-4 advantage.

Grier had two hits and scored twice for the Tigers and Jusino went 3-for-3 and scored twice.

Salvatore Urso was the winning pitcher, Urso pitched four innings and gave up six hits and three runs.

Also seeing action on the hill for SSU was Noah Brown, Giovante Tomlins, Austin Jackson, Adonis Perez and Joshua Krutchik.

Savannah State will enter the postseason on a six-game winning streak with a 23-10 overall and a 26-18 SIAC record. 

The Tigers will take part in the 2026 SIAC Baseball Championship starting next Thursday in Macon, Georgia.
