SAVANNAH, Ga.- It was Senior Day at the Savannah State tennis courts as the SSU women's tennis team along with the SSU department of athletics honored the squad's lone senior,
Sunzahra Banks with a pre-match ceremony.
After the pre-match festivities, Savannah State took on Oberlin in their final home match of the season where they lost 7-0 on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers lost all three doubles matches and all six singles matches in the non-conference match.
Savannah State's number one doubles team of
Madeleine Anne Nolan and
Nyla Warner lost their match 6-3 while SSU's number two doubles team of
Amaia Connor and
Sunzahra Banks dropped their match 6-1. The team of
Katelynn Welch and
Simone Reese lost their match 6-3.
In singles play,
Madeleine Anne Nolan lost 6-0, 6-2 while
Nyla Warner fell in her match 6-1, 6-4. In the number three singles match,
Sunzahra Banks lost 6-1, 6-3 and
Katelynn Welch fell in her match 6-2, 6-0.
Amaia Connor was defeated 6-6, 6-0 and in the number six singles match,
Simone Reese fell 6-0, 6-4.
SSU (3-5, 3-4 SIAC) will close out the regular season by playing in the SIAC Roundup #2 in Mobile, Alabama on April 1-3.
