FAIRFIELD, Ala.- Savannah State had six players to score in double figures as the Tigers ended their three-game road swing with a 86-75 win over Miles on Saturday afternoon.
The victory gives SSU the season sweep over the Golden Bears, having defeated Miles 70-59 in Tiger Arena on December 19, 2025.
The 86 points by Savannah State was a season-high and the most points scored by the program since putting up 94 points against Florida Southern on November 9, 2024.
In the first half of the game, the Tigers scored 55 points, making 59.5 percent of their shots from the field.
SSU opened the contest with a 3-pointer by
Javonte Landy, a jumper by
Michael Swift and a pair of free throws by Landy for a 7-0 advantage.
The Tigers lead grew to double digits after a 3-pointer by
Zion Davis and with 14:05 showing on the clock, Savannah State had a 25-4 lead, following another 3-pointer by Landy.
Ahead by 17, SSU used a 10-1 spurt to increase their lead to 35-9 with 8:33 left.
With the score 47-24, Savannah State scored the next six points for their largest margin of the first half with 43 seconds left.
The Tigers led 55-28 at the break.
A jumper by Swift to start the second half put SSU ahead 57-28.
Savannah State led by at least 21 points for most of the second half until Miles went on a late run within the final five minutes where they outscored SSU 14-6.
SSU won the rebounding battle 40 to 36. The Tigers also had 19 points off turnovers, 43 bench points, 36 points in the paint and 21 fast break points.
Zyere Edwards led Savannah State with 16 points and two steals. Swift had 14 points and seven assists, Landy had 13 points and four rebounds, Davis had 12 points and four rebounds,
Chancellor Wilson finished with 11 points, six rebounds, three blocks and three steals while
Ladarrius Chigano ended the day with 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Brandon Johnson chipped in four points while
James Leach Kelvin Cochran and
Braylon Jackson all scored two points.
Savannah State (19-7, 17-7 SIAC) will close out the regular season in Tiger Arena on February 24 against Lane at 7:30 p.m.
