SAVANNAH, Ga. – A pair of Savannah State University women's volleyball standouts have been recognized by the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) following outstanding performances that helped the Lady Tigers secure consecutive conference victories last week.
Sophomore
Nyalah Smith was named the SIAC Offensive Player of the Week, while junior
Amiyah Walker earned SIAC Setter of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
The duo played instrumental roles in Savannah State's victories over Benedict College and Allen University, helping the Lady Tigers put together a two-match winning streak during the final stretch of the 2026 regular season.
Smith, a sophomore middle/outside hitter from Evans, Georgia, delivered a remarkable offensive performance, combining for 55 kills across nine sets while posting a .296 hitting percentage.
The sophomore averaged an impressive 6.11 kills and 6.17 points per set, establishing herself as one of the conference's most productive offensive players during the week.
Smith opened the week with 25 kills in Savannah State's four-set victory over Benedict on October 27 inside Tiger Arena.
Two days later, she elevated her performance even further, hammering a match-high 30 kills while hitting .333 in the Lady Tigers' thrilling five-set road comeback victory over Allen.
Walker, a junior setter from Pleasant Grove, Alabama, was equally impressive in directing Savannah State's offensive attack.
The veteran setter totaled 80 assists, 31 digs, eight kills and four block assists over nine sets, averaging 8.89 assists and 3.44 digs per set.
Walker recorded double-doubles in both victories, demonstrating her ability to contribute on both sides of the net.
Against Benedict, she dished out 39 assists while collecting a team-high 21 digs, helping the Lady Tigers secure a four-set victory on their home floor.
Walker followed that performance with 41 assists and 10 digs against Allen, orchestrating Savannah State's offense as the Lady Tigers rallied from a 2-0 deficit to claim a dramatic five-set road victory.
