SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State University Department of Athletics held their annual Athletics Banquet to honor and recognize the achievements of its student-athletes during the 2024-25 academic year in the classroom and the playing field.
The annual event, which took place on the SSU campus in the Student Union Building on April 27, serves as an opportunity to showcase and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes at Savannah State.
Also during the banquet, the Savannah State Community Booster Club presented two student-athletes the prestigious W. W. Law Athletic Scholarships. The 2025 recipients are Aaliyah Saunders and Khalil Grace. Saunders is a junior on the volleyball team and hails from Winder, Georgia while Grace is a sophomore on the men's basketball team and is from Atlanta, Georgia.
The Tigers also honored seven student-athletes with 4.0 GPAs and 121 student-athletes with 3.0 and above GPAs.
The awards ceremony featured highlight photos of the 2024-25 athletic season along with individual awards as well as remarks from SSU president Dr. Jermaine Whirl, Director of Athletics Opio Mashariki and athletic head coaches.Â
