Tigers Complete Series Sweep Of Tuskegee

SAVANNAH, Ga.- Addrian McNeal Jr's RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth inning proved to be the game-winning run as Savannah State completed their weekend sweep of Tuskegee with a 6-5 win over the Golden Tigers on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Savannah State held a 5-0 lead after three innings of play but Tuskegee scored three times in the seventh and added two more runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game.

Following a walk to Caden Rogers in the bottom of the eighth, Kendal Spencer hit a single to right field.  Rogers advanced to second and is thrown out while trying to reach third base.The next batter, McNeal, hit a triple to right field that allowed Spencer to score the game winner.

The win is the Tigers fourth in a row and their seventh in their last eight outings.

In the bottom of the first, Spencer drew a walk and McNeal was hit by a pitch and both came home on a RBI single to right field by Brevin Smith. Bryce Bause walked and scored on a passed ball to give SSU a 3-0 lead.

Spencer hit a double in the second inning and scored when Smith reached base on an error by the third baseman and in the third inning, Kijani Clarington drew a walk and later scored on a wild pitch to increase the SSU lead to 5-0.

Savannah State had seven hits in the game and were issued seven walks. They also left ten runners on base.

Smith ended the game with three RBI while Spencer had two hits, scored three runs and stole two bases.

Aidan Turner was the winning pitcher. Turner pitched 2.1 innings in relief and struck out three batters while giving up three hits, two runs and one walk.

SSU (21-9, 18-6 SIAC) will travel to Memphis, Tennessee to play LeMoyne-Owen in a three-game series on April 12-13.
