SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State split a double header with Albany State at the SSU Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.
SSU won the first game 8-7 but lost the second game 3-2.
A two-run single by
Ambria Guye helps SSU to a 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning in the first game.
After ASU scores twice in the third, the Lady Tigers added two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to increase their lead to 7-2.
Albany State sent four runners across home plate in the sixth to cut SSU's lead to 7-6.
Both teams scored a run in the seventh inning.
ASU had 15 hits in the game and left 20 runners on base while the Lady Tigers collected 11 hits and left ten on base. Both teams had three errors.
Guye had two RBI for SSU while
Caleigh Powell and
Nia Fisher both had two hits.
Fisher was the winning pitcher and struck out five batters.
In the second game,
Ansley Hudson scored a run in the first and second inning to give Savannah State a 2-0 lead.
Albany State scored twice in the fifth to tie the game and then scored the game winner in the top of the seventh.
SSU (7-8, 3-2 SIAC) only had three hits in the game but left 17 runners on base.
Hudson, Guye and
Jayla Alexander all had one hit for the Lady Tigers.
Zarria Smith was tagged with the loss. Smith struck out two and issued just one walk.
The two teams conclude their three-game series on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm
